You could be entitled for a loan from Student Finance of up to Â£12,167 for taught and research master's courses. This is a non means-tested loan to help cover your fees, other course costs and living costs.

You can borrow a doctoral loan of up to Â£28,673 from Student Finance England for 2023-24 study. All of the money is paid directly to your bank account. You can use it for PhD fees, research expenses, maintenance or other costs. Doctoral loans aren't based on household income or means tested, so the amount you can borrow isn't affected by your income or savings. This amount you decide to borrow will then be spread evenly across your PhD, in three instalments per academic year.
